Versus Fall 10

So in love with the lingerie inspired dresses in blue and red and the contrast of textures used. How CUTE does Lindsey Wixson look in that red dress by the way! And then they have obviously got the more sophisticated little-black-dresses which are still kept sexy with the detail around the bust.

Non, the Golden Dawn

My favourite pieces from the Non Golden Dawn AW10/11 menswear collection lookbook. I really want this brass collar on the top image, it's like the masculine version of the Miu Miu collar, although god knows I would still wear that! Probs' wouldnt wear that weird ghost of christmas future wrap up thing but it looks cool what ever. The high-waisted phantom of the opera, bow  trousers I would though, I've just been really waiting for something to come along which really takes all these feminine trends and says hey you know what, this looks sick on a dude to!
It is official, I may just start buttoning all of my shirts up backwards. I just tried it, doing the top button up... my room is very hot and with the lack of oxygen I almost passed out so, do so at your own risk i spose! The cape is also something like the collar you could just pull over anything to give it a bit of a fashion edge, you could just make your own by buying a knitted sweater and cutting it off, then slitting the sleeves and body and sewing it in to one... maybe a future project when I have a bit more time :/. Definitely something interesting happening with this quite new brand though. This collection was inspired by a Cult group called the Golden Dawn and basically the whole concept of people rebelling against the set religion and experimenting with magic and taking rituals to dangerous extremes. There are some other images on their website, which i linked to, which do have dark veils and cloaks but you may think it seems about low key for such a dramatic stimuli; personally I think that is the beauty of the whole thing, it's the secrecy, the traditionalism but with an awkward twist, very ethereal but in a discrete way. BAYM!!
Thank you to sexanddrugs.tumblr.com for popping this wonderful brand up on my home page, much appreciated!! ha

Lanvin SS10

I know I always seem a behind posing these spring summer collections when we're well in to fall shows but I wasn't too keen on Lanvin's  fall collection, but this is just brilliant. Obviously it comes under ready to wear, and as a whole it is very safe but that is what Lanvin does best, it is so Parisian! Their style is less about pushing the boundaries between fashion and art and wearable installation, more about continually exploring tailoring and quality textiles to make new body shapes and find an ever more flatting cut. I for one am a jumpsuit-junkie! If there is a jumpsuit in a collection I will no-questions-asked love it. The top, plain black one with a harem style, tapered leg is a CLASSIC. It's day-wear with some small chains and flats and redcarpet/evening wear with some diamonds, or maybe a big belt (or even a crazy big diamond belt idk). Then we have these egyptian style jumpsuits in beige and gold, very cruise! Holiday wear for the rich and famous most definitely.
p.s. yay i got two picture of abbey lee in one post, s-s-s-score!

I cannot even think of a title to sum up these shoes!

These shoes are hand made, limited editions by Noritaka Tatehana. Below is an image of the one offs especially made for Lady Gaga

It really is where architecture and maths meet fashion. It has to be the right strength wood and the foot has to remain down the body's line of  center and those platforms must weigh a ton to counterbalance the weight coming through the heel. But props to Gaga for being able to walk on tiptoes in these things. All though they are almost like a development of the Nina Ricci gravity-defyers shown below again:

Ricci's are probably more (okay i know this sounds crazy) wearable. But I can imagine the hottest fashionista's trotting around fashion week in these for definite, where as the Tetahana shoes look just plain dangerous! Plus I am not a fan at all of the weird strawberry red, alien skin material they are made of.
I searched to page 114 of my tumblr just to find this amazing look so be grateful! Everything about this photo is perfection, it just so abstracted and the fact that it is (or is made to look like) a street style photo makes it ever more brilliant.

Vivienne Westwoods reads us bedtime stories.

All images from viviennewestwood.com
Vivienne Westwood's Spring Summer 10 collection instantly makes me think it was inspired by a childhood full of dressing up, teddies and bed time stories. The pastel yellow and blue pajama striped dresses are a wonderful adaptation of a previously hideous pattern. The shirt pulled on backwards and the slouchy fit of Westwood's signature harem pant is reminiscent of a little girl rummaging through mum's closet and stumbling out in an excess of material. The grey dress in particular demonstrates her talent at creating pieces which almost defy gravity, which is what I am most inspired by; it falls off of the body and the way it hangs gives the impression it could just slip off at any moment. The Dorothyeque look that Daisy is sporting, blue(enough) check  and the dog to match also apply to the sleepy, dreamy stories of a far away land where everything is coloured in pastels and it's very existance is unstable.

belt up

Blazer - Zara Man, Shirt - H&M, Skinny Jeans - Jack Wills, Belt - H&M

As a responce to the previous post about Raf Simons, inspired by his SS 10 collection and the use of a belt around the waist to divide the body in to different proportions.

Raf Simons reconstructs the trench.

All images of Raf Simons A/W 10. These is just a select view of the collection to demonstrate the break down of the trench coat. Simons takes the skirt of the coat and makes it an individual piece to be applied to any jacket, the feminine skirt figure is kept masculine with the slim fit basic black trouser and a pair of polished, angular smart shoes. He also puts all the individual components, the skirt, the shoulder piece and the waist band together but at different layers and broken up by the traditional trench belt. The brown leather waist belt on men creates a silhouette which continues from his SS10 collection like below which is also a recognized feminine style kept masculine by the sharp tailoring. I think this is definitely something which will be seen alot more and could add a whole new shape to some ill fitting blazers you have. I will try it out some time and take a photo.
